Applied maths is difficult. (problem-solving etc.)

Discuss the decision with your teacher and your parents.

Talk to someone who did applied maths.

Applied maths is the application of maths to work out real world problems. Such as how fast is a car moving, how long will it take for a ball to fall after I throw it up in the air.

It would really complement honours leaving cert honours maths (In the area of differientiation and vectors) and physics (in the area of mechanics) courses as there is a some of overlap between these subjects and applied maths. So if your thinking about taking on honours maths and physics for the leaving cert it definately would help.

You say that your in forth year is this the first of the two years of the leaving cert course or is it a transition year? If it is transition year then I would definately recomend trying it out for the year and seeing if you would like it for a year.

So in summary the reasons you might want to do Applied Maths for practical purposes would be

      1. Concidering doing Honours Maths and Physics for the Leaving Cert

      2. Doing transition year so just going to give it a try for a year.

These are the reasons I'd do applied maths

Hope this was of some help to you

      Godel
